Last weekend I went out to the garden to check everything out, and was very saddened to see that our lone volleyball sized watermelon had split open.  I was just imagining biting into it and how cool, crisp and refreshing it would taste, all of that just split in two when I saw her.

See I had watered the garden the night before and I guess she took in too much water causing her to split.  So it’s all my fault.

But don’t get me wrong when I finished opening her up, I did eat the pink watermelon and it was yummy!!!

Later that day DT and I and the boys decided to take a little adventure just driving around locally in the country, which isn’t far from where we live
We I spotted this snake on the road, and informed DT to stop so I could take a picture

The snake spotted us and took a turn back

into the field it came from, which upon us looking was an old man on his hands and knees pulling weeds out of the field

Our immediate horror thinking Oh no this snake is headed straight for him, we must warn him.

So we did, and showed him the pictures of the snake.  Turns out he wasn’t worried at all, and called the snake harmless Nutrix?? (Upon further investigation I am pretty sure this is a non-venomous diamond back water snake)

Turns out he was my dad’s Ag teacher in High school and remembers my dad well.  (small world, literally)

Well the water snake wasn’t too far from this pond, in which several ducks make there happy home

The boys really enjoyed looking and quacking at the ducks.  Heck sometimes a fun adventure isn’t very far from home.
